This first edition of E-FEST, dedicated to film screenings and collective readings, symbolically revives the original purpose of Ksar El Ferch: a place where residents once gathered to pass down oral history, share stories, and build community. The aim here is to bring back certain presences from the past—those that continue to haunt our lands and our imaginations—so that we may better examine them, understand them, and, perhaps, let them go.
E-FEST’s video and reading program has been designed in three phases, as an invitation to look at and rethink the territory around us.
The recent discovery in the region of the fossil of the largest crocodile in history reminds us that this landscape—too often described as a “desert”—is not an empty space. On the contrary, it is crisscrossed by numerous geological, historical, and memorial layers that bear witness to successive presences and a territory deeply inhabited.
A program curated by artist and filmmaker Fredj Moussa
This program will continue in Tunis at Drawiin, an independent space dedicated to rethinking and shaping our narratives in a context-specific way.
