NIDHAL YAHYAOUI – HATTAYA
- Tunisia

For Nidhal Vahyaoui, a return to his roots and the land of his birth was an obvious choice. From his childhood he gathers images, faces and sounds that bring back the voices of men and women who raise their voices to punctuate life and its rhythms, an intense and invigorating memory of the land, the mountains and the plains.

Originally from the Seliana region, Nidhal Vahyaoui grew up in the districts of the Tunis medina, where people from various origins and regions of Tunisia and elsewhere live side by side.
Steeped in and traversed by several traditional musical genres since childhood, Nidhal is driven by the desire to share and publicize the multiplicity of Tunisian music, notably by exporting it beyond its borders.
After his first project, « Bargou 08 », which explored the « Salhi » repertoire of the Seliana region, and his second project, « Aphawin Populaire », which gave pride of place to « Mezoued », his third adventure takes us on a journey to Berber music in the « Chaoui » style.
Beyond simple musical fusions, Nidhal strives to share universes. His creations refuse the old classifications between modern and traditional, for while they draw on the depths of the traditional repertoire, they are updated by giving way to new sounds, thus shaking up the rhythms of the present and the past, reinventing them.
