Sitting behind her machines, her fingers tapping on the controller buttons, Turkana is the quiet strength or elegance of hardcore techno that packs a punch! Sudanese DJ and producer Anita Kevin, aka Turkana, left South Sudan as a child with her family to take refuge in Kenya. There, with DJ Rachael, Decay and Hibotep, she formed the 4manysisters crew, then joined Nyege Nyege (collective, label, festival). With a hard dance style that combines visceral techno and experimental African sounds, Turkana attacks the dancefloor without compromise, but always with ferocity and grace, so that the energy of trance flows through the room and into the bodies.
